Laura Carnicero, Lydia Gordon, Elina Leventaki and Caroline Sones

 

Laura Carnicero, b. Gijón, Spain, 1981

Laura completed a five year degree in Art History at University of Oviedo (Spain) in 2004. Having gained museographic practice at Museo Evaristo Valle in Gijón (Spain), she moved to UK and pursued postgraduate studies in Museology and Contemporary Art Display at the University of Warwick. In 2005 she enrolled the MA Gallery Studies at the University of Essex, sponsored by Fundación Marcelino Botín. Specially interested in display design and new media curationship, she is looking to further her career as a curator.

 

Lydia Gordon, b. Royal Leamington Spa, United Kingdom, 1980

Having gained a 2:1 Joint Honours BA in History of Art and French from the University of Kent, Lydia volunteered for the auctioneers Sotheby’s in London, working in the European Sculpture and Works of Art Department. Following this she completed a four-month internship assisting the head of publications at the Capc Musée d'art contemporain – the contemporary art museum in Bordeaux France. Alongside her studies in Gallery Studies at the University of Essex, Lydia worked on a voluntary basis at UNION - a commercial contemporary art gallery - in London, documenting and archiving publications on their website. Since completing her MA Lydia has gained employment as Administrator for the Cultural Leadership Programme: a two-year Treasury funded investment in excellence in leadership across the creative and cultural industries.  

 

Elina Leventaki, b. Athens, Greece, 1980

 Elina completed her first degree in Archaeology and History of Art at the University of Athens in Greece in 2005. As a student, Elina worked voluntarily on excavations in several places in Greece. She also worked for the library of National Gallery of Athens. After obtaining her degree she was offered voluntary work at the Pierides Museum of Cypriot Art in Athens, where she took part in the design and delivery of education programmes for children. She is currently pursuing her MA in Gallery Studies at the University of Essex. e-motive will be her first project as a curator.

 

Caroline Sones, b. Rochford, United Kingdom, 1973

Following a successful twelve-year administrative and management career with the BBC and the Civil Service, Caroline left full-time employment to pursue a new career in the museums and galleries sector.  In 2005, she gained a First Class Honours degree in Antiques (History and Collecting) from Southampton Solent University and joined the MA in Gallery Studies course at University of Essex.  Caroline has been both a long-term volunteer and an employee of the National Trust and since co-curating the e-motive exhibition has joined the Trust as House Steward at Standen in West Sussex, a showpiece of the Arts and Crafts movement.
